Experience Ayurveda
The word Ayurveda is derived from two Sanskrit words: Ayu meaning ‘life’ or ‘longevity’ and Veda meaning ‘knowledge of’. Therefore, Ayurveda precisely means the ‘Science of Life’ or “the ultimate knowledge of life”.
Ayurveda is India’s ancient medical system of healthcare that originated long back in a pre-vedic period, about 5000 years B.C. There is plenty of evidence about the origin of Ayurveda in the ancient texts, called The Vedas. The Vedas hold the wisdom, culture & science of Indian knowledge. All Vedic sciences are basically teachings for the development of physical, mental, and spiritual potential of the individual.
Ayurveda is a holistic tradition that leads to a way of living designed to bring the body into balance and help each of us to wellness. Ayurveda helps set strategies for healthy living during the entire span of one’s life and its various phases. Ayurveda is more than just a medical system is a way of life.
Ayurveda uses a constitutional model. Its aim is to provide guidance regarding food and lifestyle so that healthy people can stay healthy and people with health challenges can improve their health. According to this model we are all created different, and we are all essential parts of nature. Just as the animals and plants live in harmony with nature, and utilize the Laws of Nature to create health and balance within their beings, we too adhere to these very same principles. Therefore, it is fair to say that Ayurveda is a system that helps maintain health in a person by using the inherent principles of nature to bring the individual back into equilibrium with their true self. In essence Ayurveda has been in existence since the beginning of time because we have always been governed by nature's laws.
This understanding that we are all unique individuals enables Ayurveda to address not only specific health concerns but also offers explanation as to why one person responds differently than another.
Not only does Ayurveda address principles for personal health maintenance, it has also developed a wide range of therapeutic measures to combat illness. Ayurveda describes over 4000 preparations to assist an individual in overcoming various ailments. These principles of positive health and therapeutic measures relate to physical, mental, social, and spiritual welfare of human beings.
Thus, Ayurveda becomes one of the oldest systems of health care dealing with both the preventive and curative aspects of life in a most comprehensive way. This presents a close similarity to the WHO’s (World Health Organization) concept of health propounded in the modern era.
We hope that you will continue to explore Ayurveda to enhance your health and to gain further insights into this miracle, we call life.
